Thru The Bible

Pressing forward with studies in the book of Isaiah, riding along on the Bible Bus with Dr. J. Vernon McGee on his Thru The Bible in 5 years study. This program is, in my opinion, an excellent method whereby one is able to journey thru the scriptures and obtain a vast wealth of knowledge while traveling. Dr. McGee’s plan alternates between the Old Testament and the New Testament so as not to become too bogged in either one for an extended period of time. TTB broadcasts on thousands of radio stations worldwide. TTB offers free notes and outlines for each book of the Bible which can be easily downloaded as .pdf files to a computer, tablet, or smartphone. Podcasts are also available for free. A USB flash drive containing the entire 5 year study is available also for a one time fee.  There is nothing to lose yet there is everything to gain from this thorough study of the Bible. It is a valuable asset for any scholar or beginning student of scripture alike. Hope to find you on the Bible Bus soon. Thank You for stopping by.      guseast

Fly Baby ? Yes!

Why Fly Baby?

In 1958 while Peter Bowers was an engineer for Boeing he was simultaneously involved in homebuilding and EAA. The Fly Baby resulted from a design contest sponsored by EAA. A simple approach to homebuilding was the design criteria. A design which a novice could take on and be successful in producing his/her own airplane without breaking the bank and by using the basic tools found in most any home repair arsenal. A small garage or workshop was definitely helpful but not absolutely required (any of us enjoy a dedicated space for long term projects). The simplicity of the design has attracted many a homebuilder and has proven successful throughout the years as an accommodating single seat airplane for the sport flyer as well as the occasional cross country stent.

Tarrazu Anyone?

I recently began a search for a Columbian coffee in whole bean variety. My search carried me out across the inter-webs, down south towards Columbia, of course. Where else would one find Columbian coffee outside of the local grocery? On my journey south I was conveniently derailed in Costa Rica where the local farmers grow coffee in the volcanic soils around 3500′ elevation. It was there I found Tarrazu… Well, I actually found the finished (roasted product) in New Jersey, yes, New Jersey. For just one moment, I felt I would be afforded the privilege of traveling to Costa Rica in order to retrieve this new found treasure, but alas my vision was muddled by the old economic laws of import/export and the availability of products on eBay. For there, via the world wide web, Costa Rica was brought to me through Rhoadsroast Coffees and a listing on eBay. Now I sip my fresh coffee and envision myself farming in the volcanic mountains of Costa Rica, in an effort, to supply the host of coffee sippers throughout the entire world with fresh and magical Tarrazu coffee. A man can dream…

Coffee and Nuts

Ground or Whole Bean

Whichever you prefer, fresh is best! Take time to ensure your supply is relatively fresh with a good aroma and fine taste. Stale coffee is like a bitter nut, blah. Every morning, for myself, begins with fresh ground coffee and a handful of mixed nuts. These days I brew one cup at a time by pouring hot water over the fresh ground coffee using the fancy little Rhost stainless steel dripper or if my desire is for an express cup then I use the old kitchen strainer with a coffee filter tucked down inside. Either way the end result is a fresh cup of coffee and a better start to the day. When the nuts seem to dry then I add a few raisins and this combination provides a great beginning to a fruitful morning. Love that coffee…
